⚖️ We’re Yet to Receive Any Document from EFCC About VeryDarkMan  –  Adeyanju

Abuja, Nigeria – Human rights lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has disclosed that the legal team of controversial social media figure Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has not received any formal bail document from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Adeyanju made the statement on Tuesday via his X (formerly Twitter) account, casting doubt on the EFCC’s earlier claim that Otse had been granted administrative bail.

“Bail granted VDM, social media bail, as we are yet to receive any bail document from the commission,” Adeyanju posted.

He also noted that the legal team has repeatedly requested documentation from the anti-graft agency since Monday, but no official response or paperwork has been issued.

🚨 Background: Why VDM Was Arrested

VeryDarkMan was arrested by EFCC operatives on Friday, shortly after he visited a GTBank branch in Abuja to lodge a complaint regarding an unauthorized deduction from his mother’s account. Reports later alleged that VDM was manhandled during the arrest.

On Monday, the EFCC released a public statement claiming that Otse was arrested in connection with multiple petitions related to alleged financial crimes. The Commission emphasized that the arrest had nothing to do with his social media activism or criticism.

🗣️ Atiku Weighs In

Reacting to the situation, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar condemned the development, calling it “state-sponsored tyranny”, and urged Nigerians to resist authoritarianism in all forms.

📌 What’s Next?

Despite the EFCC’s public statement, Otse’s legal team insists that no legal proof of bail has been furnished. They continue to demand clarity on the bail conditions and official documentation to secure his full release.
