Birmingham, England — Aston Villa have reached an agreement to sign Tammy Abraham for £18 million, paving the way for the England striker’s return to the Premier League.
The move comes after Turkish giants Besiktas completed the permanent signing of Abraham from AS Roma for £11.2 million (€13m), triggering a clause in his loan contract that obligated the club to make the deal permanent.
Abraham, 28, travelled to the United Kingdom on Friday and successfully underwent a medical on Saturday after Villa finalised terms with Besiktas.
Besiktas Confirm Permanent Deal
Besiktas confirmed the activation of the permanent transfer clause in a club statement.
“The conditions in the transfer contract of Kevin Oghenetega Tamaraebi Bakumo-Abraham have been fulfilled and the provision for the permanent transfer of the player has come into effect,” the club said.
“In this context, a transfer fee of €13 million will be paid to AS Roma.”
Although the Turkish club were initially reluctant to sell, they have agreed to let Abraham return to England following Aston Villa’s improved offer.
Strong Season in Turkey
Abraham enjoyed an impressive campaign with Besiktas, scoring 12 goals in 24 appearances across all competitions. His form has reignited interest in the Premier League, where he previously starred for Chelsea.
The striker has been capped 11 times by England and remains a proven goalscorer at club level.
From Chelsea to Roma and Beyond
Abraham joined Roma from Chelsea in 2021 for £34 million, scoring 39 goals in 120 appearances and helping the Italian club win the Europa Conference League in 2022.
He also spent the 2024/25 season on loan at AC Milan, where he netted 10 goals in 44 games.
Premier League Return Beckons
With the transfer now in place, Abraham is set to complete his move to Aston Villa, marking his return to the Premier League — the stage where he first made his name.
Villa manager Unai Emery is expected to view Abraham as a key addition as the club pushes for a strong finish in domestic and European competitions.
