Grief has continued to trail the death of Nigerian footballer Saburi Adeniji, popularly known as Ola, following reports that his wife and young daughter arrived in the United Kingdom barely a day after his passing.
The 26-year-old winger, who played for Kings Park Rangers FC of Sudbury, died on Friday morning after battling a severe brain stem injury.
Club Confirms Tragic Timing
The club confirmed his death in a statement on Saturday, revealing that Adeniji fought to stay alive until his family could arrive from Nigeria.
“He fought so hard to still be here for when his family arrived. Unfortunately, they arrived a day late,” the club said.

Kuti also disclosed that Adeniji’s family expressed gratitude to donors who supported the GoFundMe campaign created during his illness.
