President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS). The appointment takes effect from August 14, 2025, following the retirement of the current Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji, who clocks 60 on August 13, 2025.

The announcement was made in an official statement released by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) and signed by the Board Secretary, Major General A.M. Jibril (retd.), on behalf of the President.

According to the statement, Olumode brings “a wealth of experience” to the new role. A seasoned officer, he began his career at the FCT Fire Service before transferring to the Federal Fire Service, where he rose to the rank of Deputy Controller-General overseeing Human Resources at the Service headquarters.

“In the course of his career, the officer has attended and excelled in all mandatory in-service trainings, command courses, and other professional development programs both locally and internationally,” the Board stated.

Olumode is also recognized for his involvement in numerous professional organizations. He holds membership and fellowship in bodies such as the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.

The CDCFIB praised the outgoing Controller-General, Engr. Jaji, for his “remarkable contributions to the development of the Fire Service,” commending his dedication, leadership, and the initiatives he introduced during his tenure.

This appointment marks a new chapter for the Federal Fire Service as it continues efforts to improve emergency response and fire safety across the nation.
