The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a woman, identified as Deborah, for allegedly stabbing two women, Adebayo Omokehinde and Kolapo Aishat, during an argument in the Aiyetoro area of the state.
Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the arrest on Thursday, stating that the suspect initially fled the scene after committing the crime but was later apprehended after days of searching.
The incident occurred on January 30, 2025, when a heated argument escalated into violence. Deborah allegedly attacked the two victims with a broken bottle, stabbing them multiple times on their breasts, hands, and eyes, leaving them critically injured. She then fled, evading arrest for nearly two weeks.
“However, on February 12, 2025, our officers successfully arrested the suspect. During interrogation, she confessed to the crime,” Odutola said.
The victims were given medical reports and directed to a general hospital for urgent treatment. The police assured that Deborah would face prosecution after the completion of the investigation.
This incident adds to a series of violent attacks reported in Ogun State. In January, a 22-year-old woman, Iyanu Adedeji, allegedly stabbed her husband, Funsho Jimoh, to death in Abeokuta. After committing the act, she turned herself in to the police.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to curbing violent crimes and ensuring justice for victims.
